Mr. Harry E. Ferm, age 75, of 7266 W. Market Street Mercer, PA passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 6:39 a.m. in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System .
Mr. Ferm was born in Sharon, PA on January 14, 1937, the son of the late Harry O. and Virginia Mae (Davis) Ferm. He was a 1954 graduate of Sharon High School. and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as an SN, from 1955-1962. He then went on to serve in the reserves of the National Guard Army of Pennsylvania until 1968.
Harry had worked as a general foreman at the former Sawhill Tubular Products in Sharon., for several years retiring in 1995.. He most recently had been working at Preston Ford in Sharon. He also had owned the former State and Elm Texaco in Sharon for several years.
Harry was a member of the Sharon American Legion, Post 299. life member of the Hickory VFW Post 6166, the F.O.P. Rose of Sharon Lodge #3 and the USS Coral Sea Battlegroup CVA-3 Association. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. Harry was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Joan (Hall) Ferm. whom he married on August 20, 1980, along with his two daughters, Carolyn Suttles and her husband, Dan of Brookfield, OH, Marlene Bosley and her husband, John Bosley Sr. of Vienna, OH., a son, Paul Ferm and his wife Lisa, of Brookfield, OH, along with three step-daughters, Lori Vasconi and her husband, David of Volant, PA., Brenda Valentine and her husband David, of Hermitage, PA., and Melissa Slater and her husband, Jake, of Sharpsville, PA. Also survivng are his sister, Barbara Benedict and her husband, Robert, of Erie, PA. along with 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00a.m. on Monday, January 23rd, with Pastor Cathy Ake of the Vienna United Methodist Church officiating. The Hickory VFW Post 6166 Honor Guard will provide military honors at the funeral home at the conclusion of the service. Interment at Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
