Harold Jakob "Harry" Schmidt, of 279 Fleming Way Sharon, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 21, 2013 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh from pneumonia and lung complications. He was 60.
Harold was born in Sharon, PA on March 3, 1953, the son of the late Jakob and Gertrude (Kuschnerus) Schmidt who survives him of Brookfield, Ohio. Being a lifelong baker, he had worked in the bakery of Santisi's IGA in Girard, OH., for several years.
Harry was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers, Local # 880. He considered himself to be a #1 Pittsburgh Steelers fan who enjoyed boating, fishing, growing a garden, playing the lottery, and riding his Harley-Davidson. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Surviving are his two daughters, Kimberly Springer and her husband, Jim, Carrie Schmidt, and a grandson, Caysen Schmidt , all of Hermitage, PA. Also survivng besides his mother are four sisters, Helga Kirkey of Oxford, Michigan., Ingrid Kostra of Masury,OH., Lori McFarland and her husband, David, of Kinsman,OH., Chrissie Bielobocky, and her husband, Dan, of Brookfield,OH and two brothers, Herbert Schmidt, and his wife, Mimi, of Sharon, PA, and Edward Schmidt of Brookfield, OH.. Several nieces, great nieces, nephews and great-nephews also survive. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norbert Schmidt and his nephew, Jacob Schmidt.
In leu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association of PA, Fight For Air, 810 River Ave, Suite 140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the Shenango Valley Baptist Church, Hermitage, PA at 6:00p.m. on Wednesday, June 26th, with Rev. Phillip Cooper officiating.
Cremation will take place. Funeral services provided by the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA .
