Gloria J. Matthews

Gloria J. "Pokey" Matthews, age 75, of W. Middlesex, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 with her son by her side while going on "one more ride."

Born May 4, 1950, in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Segeda) Gjavor.

A 1968 graduate of Brookfield High School, Gloria worked for 32 years for Packard Electric in Warren, Ohio, where she was a press operator for auto and bus harnesses.

Gloria was an avid collector of just about anything and loved her unique and beautiful treasures she would find shopping, especially at thrift stores. She loved strawberries and anything that had a strawberry décor. She was a music fan and attended many concerts with her son and loved following two local bands, 80's Proof and Juvenile Characteristics, where ever they would play. She was also a volunteer for the Mental Health Agency for many years. She enjoyed cookbooks and all the many things she could prepare that were quick and easy. She enjoyed car rides and trips to her camp with her babies by her side. Most of all she loved her pets, Frenchy LaRue, Bugger Boo Boda, Yoda Boda, Baby Wee, Boots Kaletka, and Precious.

My Mama, Pokey Battles

Today I unexpectedly lost my mama, my partner in crime, my best friend…..I'm lost beyond words, I'm hurt, and I have no clue what to do from this point on. I'm not even sure what I'm writing will make sense. Most days, and even on her worst days, she had the energy to surpass me. She loved life even in her worst days and made the best out of the darkest ones. She fought like hell through all her ailments. She loved all that she crossed. I've literally scene her give her absolute last $20 to the homeless and then cry for them. She was beyond an angel….and she will forever be my mama.

Love you forever,

Your son, Brian
