Gerald B. "Jerry" Cadman Sr.


Gerald B. "Jerry" Cadman Sr., of 299 Wick Ave., Hermitage, PA passed away on Wed., March 26, 2014, at 5:15 a.m., in Sharon Regional Health System after a brief  illness. He was 103.
Jerry was born in Warren, PA on March 19, 1911, the son of the late Jared and Pearl (Roush) Cadman. He was a graduate of Wesleyville (PA) High School and the University of Pittsburgh.
He was a member of Central  Christian Church in  Hermitage, PA , where he had served as an elder. Jerry had worked as a pharmacist at at the former Thrift Drugs in Sharon for many years.
Jerry enjoyed bowling, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, traveling with his wife to New England to see the fall foilage, and spending time with his family. He was a volunteer tax worker for several years.
He was the husband of  Hazel M. (Wright) Cadman, whom he married on Jan. 14, 1946. She died in 2002.
He is survived by his son, Gerald B. Cadman Jr. and his wife, Rebecca Swanson, of Charlottsville, VA, his step-daughter-in-law, Dorothy Martin, of Leavittsburg, OH, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Jean Glass, his step-son, Harry "Buck" Phillips, his grandson, David Glass, and a sister, Ethel Myers.  The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Cindy Murphy and her brother, Richard Murphy, Diane Peterson, and Larry Rowlands. They would also like to thank the staff of 5 West of Sharon Regional Health System, for all their compassion and care for Jerry in his final days.

Friends are invited to call   Sunday, March 30, 2014, from  2-5:00 p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Central Christian Church, Hermitage, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31st,  with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey T. Moore officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, PA.
