Mr. George John Vournous, of Dutch Lane, Hermitage, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tues, Nov. 27, 2012, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System at 11:14 p.m. after becoming ill at home. He was 55.
George was born in Chios, Greece on December 30, 1956, the son of the late John and Anna (Michalakis) Vournous.
He was a member of Announciation Greek Orthodox Church in Farrell, PA. and had worked as a chef at at various area restaurants.
George loved to cook and enjoyed watching and playing soccer and was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan. He enjoyed the time he spent time with his son, James G. Vournous of New Castle, PA. He is also survived by his sister, Jeannie Kinousis of Athens, Greece, his girlfriend, Martha Kelley, of Hermitage, along with his pet cat, Smoki, and two nieces, and five nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by his two brothers, James and Steve Vournous.
Private family visitation will take place on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 Easty State Street, Sharon, PA 16146.
