Mr. Gary Richard Douglas, age 65, of 1773 Crescent Drive, Hermitage, PA died peacefully, Sunday evening (January 29,2012) at 9:13p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Warren, Ohio, after an extended illness.
Mr. Douglas was born in Sharon, PA on August 30, 1946, the son of the late William and Hilda (Patton) Douglas. He was a 1964 graduate of Sharon High School and went on to attend Youngstown State University.
Gary was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sharon. He had worked as Director of Public Works at the City of Sharon for 24 years retiring in 2001. He had also worked at the former Westinghouse Plant and Sharon Steel and at the Buhl Community Recreation Center all in Sharon, in his younger years.
Gary was a member of the Sharon American Legion Post 299. He enjoyed bowling, watching sports, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary coached the Sharon American Legion Little League team, & coached basketball at St. Joseph's School in Sharon ,for 17 years.
He was the husband of Mary Ann (Adderty) Douglas. whom he married on August 9, 1969. She survives at home. He is also survived by two daughters, Kristen Douglas of Charlotte, NC and Carlee Baker and her husband Brad ,of Sharon, PA, and his son, Gary W. Douglas and his wife,Cassie, also of Sharon, PA, along with four grandchildren, Abigail and Derek Douglas, and Cameryn and Haylee Baker.along with his brother, Robert Douglas and his wife, Eileen, of Holidaysburg, PA.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 , from 4-7:00p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at at St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, PA. at 10:00a.m. on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 with Rev. Glenn Whitman officiating. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, in Hermitage ,Pa.
