Frank M. Pleso, 91, of Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly August 28, 2026.
He was born July 7, 1935, in Sharon to Frank S. and Julia (Hajdu) Pleso. A 1953 Sharon High School graduate, Frank served in the U.S. Army Reserves (1953–1961).
Frank began his career in 1955 at Westinghouse Electric Corp. as a Mechanical Fitter and later served a machinist apprenticeship there. After completing his apprenticeship, he was employed as a Die Designer at Johnson Bronze Co., and later as a Fabrication Designer at R.D. Werner Co.
He had a diverse engineering career, notably as Manager of Manufacturing and Product Engineering at GATX, later at Packard Electric as a Plastic Tool Engineer for several years before retiring from Vertex Development in 1997. Frank was a member and president of several industrial organizations.
He was also an outside sales agent for Plaza Travel and a founding member of the Church of Notre Dame. Frank proudly celebrated his Hungarian heritage and loved world travel. He enjoyed traveling to Europe, his annual winter trips to Florida, casino trips to Nevada, and sports (a fan of Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Cleveland teams).
Frank together with his wife built both of their homes in Hermitage. He was also an avid Euchre player and for many years played with a group of his friends. Frank enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary (Gelety) Pleso; sons, Mark (Anne) and Randall (Irene); and three beloved grandchildren whom he idolized, Joseph, Benjamin, and Catzian.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith Faye Ghizzoni.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA, 16148. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM in the church with Fr. John Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Orthodox Church Cemetery.
