Frank Morgenstern, of 269 Koehler Dr. Sharpsville, PA., passed away on Wed., Nov 26, 2014 at 5:55 a.m. at O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center, Masury, OH after a brief illness. He was 92.
Frank was born in Brookfield, Ohio on May 15, 1922, the son of the late Frank and Edna Mae (Hogue) Morgenstern. He was a 1940 graduate of Sharon High School. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Corporal in WW II against the enemy at Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Hermitage, PA.
He had worked as a foreman in the scarfing yard at the former Sharon Steel for 42 years retiring in 1982.
Frank was a member of the Hickory VFW #6166 and the Sharon Steel Retirees group. In his younger years he had been active with the Sharpsville Little League and had served as treasurer and was instrumental in the building of the current playing fields. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was the widower of Harriett Jane (Burns) Morgenstern. whom he married on Oct. 9, 1948. She died on April 27, 2007. His survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Stanovich and her husband, of Hermitage, PA.
and two sons, Gregg Morgenstern and his wife, Susan,of Hermitage, PA, and Terry Morgenstern of Sharpsville, PA. and a daughter-in-law, Laurie Morgenstern , of Hermitage, PA and a sister-in-law, Peg Morgenstern, of Florida. Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren, Steven and Missy Stanovich, Tyler Morgenstern and Lauren Delfratte and her husband, Aaron, and Kristy and Nikki Morgenstern. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Morgenstern.

Private family visitation will take place on Saturday, Nov.. 29, 2014, at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home., 264 East State St., Sharon, PA
Private funeral services at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, with Rev.. James Burns, deceased's nephew, officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
