Fannie Routman, of Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive Hermitage, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday evening, Jan. 13, 2014, in her residence after a brief illness. She was 96.
She was born in Farrell, PA on August 1, 1917, the daughter of the late Max Louis and Ethel (Katz) Berkowitz.. She was a 1934 graduate of Farrell High School. She was a member of the former Temple Beth Israel Congregation in Sharon.
She had worked as a secretary at in the Public Works Dept. for the city of Farrell., until her retirement in 1981. Fannie also had served as secretary of the Farrell City Planning Commission and for the Farrell Human Relations Commission.
Fannie was a life member of Hadassah, and a member of the Council of Jewish Women , and the Temple Beth Israel Sisterhood. She also served on the Resident's Board of Whispering Oaks.
She was the widow of David Routman. whom she married on Aug. 23, 1974. He died on Jan. 21, 2000. Her first husband, Frank Pearlman, whom she married on Nov. 13, 1938, died on Oct. 18, 1968. She is survived by her daughter, Lois Brown and her husband, Arnie, of New Milford, NJ, her son, Barry Pearlman and his wife, Sallie, of Orange, CA, two step-daughters, Jackie Hoff and her husband, Saul, of Whiting, NJ., Roberta Dymond and her husband, Dr. Ross Dymond,of Montgomery Village, MD., her 3 granddaughters, Erika Clark, and her husband, Tim, Flanders, NJ, Meredith Large, and her husband, Brian,of Cranford,NY, Gina Pearlman and her husband, Jason Whalen, of Pittsburgh, PA, a grandson, Joshua Pearlman, of Hermitage, PA, Great granddaughters, Madeline and Olivia Clark, and great-grandsons, Tobie Clark and Jack Large, along with 8 step-grandchildren,and ten step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Martin Berkowitz of Northridge, CA and her sister, Lillian Zolton, of Hermitage, PA. Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Harry, Isadore, Herman, and Arthur Berkowitz and a sister, Bertha Kirshenbaum.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. til1 11:00 a.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16th, with Arnie Brown, her son-in-law, officiating.
Interment at Temple Beth Israel Cemetery, Farrell, PA
