Evelyn G. Davis, of Hermitage, formerly of Wengler Ave., Sharon, PA, passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at 7:32 p.m., in UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell, after a brief illness. She was 97.
Evelyn was born in Akron, OH on June 11, 1919, the daughter of the late Edward B. and Goldie (Hane) Griffin.
She graduated from Sharon High School in 1938 and then later went on to graduate from the Youngstown Beauty School. She was a beautician in the area for many years.
She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church of Sharon, and was Past-President of the United Methodist Women.
Evelyn was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Farrell Chapter #156. She enjoyed playing bridge in several area bridge clubs, golfing and bowling in area leagues.
She was the widow of William W. Davis, whom she married of Sept. 2, 1939. He died April 15, 2000. She is survived by her two nephews, Richard L. Griffin and his wife Roxanne, of Savannah, GA, and James D. Griffin and his wife, Beth, of Hermitage, PA, two nieces, Carol Mengel and her husband Ed, of Meadville, PA, and JoAnn Worsencroft and her husband Dave, of Parma Heights, OH, along with 6 great-nieces and great nephews and 8 great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard W. and Donald H. Griffin.
