Ethel Lilly

Ethel (Baker) Lilly, who lived most of her 102 years in Sharon and Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, in The Villa's at St. Paul, Greenville, PA.

Born October 5, 1921 in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ethel (Watkins) Baker. She married Melvin Lilly on June 20, 1942, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1993.

Ethel graduated from Sharon High School and worked as a PBX Operator for Bell Telephone and later in life was a medical secretary.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, sports and her 1961 Metropolitan convertible. Ethel was a member of the Gradale Sorority Delta Chapter, the Shenango Valley Region of the AACA, a lifelong member of Covenant Presbyterian Church as well as a charter member of the Couplers' Class.

Ethel is survived by a daughter Carol Law (Stephen) of Mercer, PA, two sons, Melvin "Bud" Lilly (Ellen), of Darlington, PA, and Jay Lilly (Martha), of Hermitage, PA, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister Leona Morgenstern.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 E. State Street, Sharon, PA, 16146. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Rick Stauffer officiating.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to  Covenant Presbyterian Church or St. Paul's Senior Living Community, 339 E. Jamestown Road, Greenville, PA, 16125.
