Edward G. Zippie, of Hermitage, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 15th, 2017, in Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 92.
Mr. Zippie was born in West Salem twp., PA on December 14, 1924, the son of the late George and Anna (Madura) Zippie.
Ed graduated from Sharon High School in 1943. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 till he was honorably discharged in 1946. On June 28, 1952 he married Ann Kraynak.
After working at the former Sharon Steel for 42 years, he retired in 1988. His retirement years were spent gardening and spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. He also volunteered as a scout leader for Troup 7, of Clark, PA. He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, PA.
He is survived by his wife Ann, of Hermitage, his three sons, Gary Zippie and his wife, Katy, Dan Zippie and his wife, Kim, all of Hermitage, PA, David Zippie and his wife, Judy of Aurora, CO, and his daughter, Carol Glunt and her husband, Dennis, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan and Sean Zippie, Megan and David Zippie, Ashley and Nicole Glunt, and Kayla and Karly Semroc, and a great-granddaughter, Diana. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Habetler.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Mission Fund of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20th, with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari, Pastor of Covenant Church officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Sharon, PA with Military Honors presented by the Farrell, Wheatland, West Middlesex Honor Guard.
