Dorothy A. "Dot" Banick, of S. Pymatuning twp., Transfer, PA, formerly of Heinz Ave.,Sharon, PA, passed away peacefully at 4:15. a.m., on June 6, 2015, in her residence, after a 5 year courageous battle with cancer. She was 61.
Dorothy was born in Sharon, PA on August 7, 1953, the daughter of the late Raymond "Babe" Dunn and Mary Ellen (Brainard) Dunn, who survives her , of Hermitage, PA. She was a 1971 graduate of Kennedy Christian High School and later earned a 2 year degree from New Castle School of Business.
Dot was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka-Holy Trinity Church, for 37 years, where she had been a member of the choir, a cantor, a Eucharistic minister and she had also served on church council.
She worked as a supervisor of case workers at Mercer County Department of Public Assistance, retiring in 2013. Previously, she had worked for the Job Training Partnership Program, and in the office of the former Willson's Furniture Store in Sharon.
Dot was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Loving gardening, she became a Master Gardener through Penn State University. She enjoyed feeding the birds and deer, taking trips to casinos, and spending time at the family camp in Kelletville, PA. Being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her family meant lot to her, and they will miss her very much.
She was the wife of Jack Banick, whom she married on May 13, 1978. He survives at home, along with two daughters, Ellen Kellar, and her husband , Lewis, of Transfer, PA and Katie Patton, and her husband, Eric, of Hermitage, PA and two grandchildren, Luke and Kelyn Patton. She is also survived by two sisters, Janice Pelensky and her husband, Larry, of Erie, PA, Pamela Nickel, of Hermitage, PA, three brothers, Gregory Dunn, Hermitage, PA, Mark Dunn and his wife, Janie, of The Colony, Texas, and Bruce Dunn, of Hermitage, PA, along with several nieces and nephews, and her dog, Murphy, and her cats, Molly and Maggie.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 , from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m., at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146 .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Stanislaus Kostka - Holy Trinity Church at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, June 10th, with Rev. Regis Meenihan officiating. Inurnment will be private at St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, in Hermitage.
