Donna Faye Meyer, age 91, formerly of Sharon, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in St. Paul's Senior Living Center, Greenville, PA.
Born March 17, 1933, in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Murl (Settle) Meyer.
Donna graduated from Sharon Highschool in 1951 and then went on to Abilene Christian University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. She received her Master of Education Degree from Westminster College and her Library of Science Certification from Slippery Rock University.
Her employment history included working for Westinghouse Electric Corp. after graduating High School. She started her teaching career at Sharpsville Area School District as an elementary school teacher, she also taught elementary school in the Kent Ohio School District, and the Sharon School District, where she also was a librarian. After retiring from teaching, she worked part-time Tutoring adults and children and doing office work at the YMCA.
Donna was a lifelong member of The Church of Christ, in Hermitage, PA, where she taught Sunday school and Bible School Classes. At age 18, she helped to set up and organize the church library. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association -Retired, former member of the College Club and a local photography club. She also volunteered at Sharon Regional Hospital and UPMC Shenango Valley Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, crafts and playing board games.
A very special thank you to her dear and devoted friend, Janis Clarke, who helped her and stood by her side, especially when her health deteriorated. Donna was blessed to have such a wonderful friend. Also, we want to thank St. Paul's Senior Living Center for taking care of her over the last five years and treating her like family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon, PA, 16146. A funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Jay Don Poindexter officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's Senior Living Center, 339 East Jamestown Road, Greenville, PA, 16125.
