Donald William Trout

Donald William Trout, of Mercer, formerly of Jefferson twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Countryside Convalescent Home in Mercer, after an extended illness. He was 85.
Mr. Trout was born in Somerset twp., PA on November 20, 1931, the son of the late William Nelson and Hazel Grace (White) Trout. He was a 1945 graduate of Somerset High School. Donald served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956.
He had worked as a construction representative at Eckles & Co. New Castle, PA., for over 10 years. He had also worked as a chief code officer for the Shenango Valley Code Program and for the U.S. Army Corp of engineers at the Shenango Reservoir.
Donald enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, being outdoors and was well known for making maple syrup. He was a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church.
He married Bernice (Kimmel) Trout on Nov. 4, 1951. She died May 4, 2013. He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Kelecy and her husband Richard of Valrico, FL and Nancy Gassner of Mercer PA along with his grandchildren, Jonathan Kelecy, Ryan Gassner and his wife Erica, Amanda Kelecy and Sara Gassner. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Trout.
The family would like to thank the staff of Countryside Convalescent Home and Three Rivers Hospice for their compassionate, excellent care they provided during Donald's time there.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Charleston United Methodist Church, 1156 Greenfield Rd., Hermitage, PA and to the Three Rivers Hospice Patient Care Fund, 2500 Mosside Blvd., Monroeville, PA 15146.
Friends are invited to call Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21st, with Rev. Glenn P. Crytzer, Chaplain of Three Rivers Hospice officiating. Interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery Jefferson twp., PA.
