Christopher L. Oakes, of Hermitage, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday evening, March 19, 2017. He was 50..
Chris was born in Sharon, PA on November 16, 1966, the son of the late George William and Joyce S. (Wilson) Oakes Fragle, who survives him of Hermitage, PA. He was a 1985 graduate of Hickory High School.
Chris was an active member of Church of the Redeemer now known as Resurrection Church, and Episcopal Congregation
Chris loved his job as a school bus driver and "his kids" having worked for Anderson Bus Company Greenville, PA, for over 20 years. He had also worked at the former Arthur Treacher's in Hermitage for several years.
He was an avid Cedar Point Amusement Park lover and often took his family there. He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Besides his mother Joyce, he is survived by his sister, Wendy Getway & her husband Edwin of Hermitage, PA, His grandmother, Catherine Wilson, of Hermitage, his niece, Sarah Getway, His nephew, George Getway and his companion, Courtney Zehtner, his great-nephew, Grant E. Getway, all of whom he considered his own. He was extremely close with his cousin, Bonnie Maxie and her husband, Mark, of whom he thought of as a sister and brother-in-law, his aunts and uncles, Carole & Bob Kassi, and Carl Wilson and Lydia Santell Wilson. He is also survived by his very special dog, Wiggins, whom he loved very much. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Myrtle Oakes and Carl Wilson.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Humane Society of Mercer County, 29 Vine Ave., Sharon, PA 16146 or to The American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Redeemer, Hermitage. at 11:00A.M. on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 with Rev. Jason Shank, pastor of Resurrection Church officiating.
Cremation services provided by the funeral home.
