Chester C. Everett, age 96, of Hermitage, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his residence, with his loving family by his side.
Born March 7, 1928 in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Leola (Anthony) Everett. He married his first wife Lettisia Rush in 1946 and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2020 and married his second wife Helen Ferensik in 1949 and she preceded him in death in 2010.
Chester was a 1946 Graduate of Kittanning High School and worked for many years on the assembly line for General Motors, until his retirement in 1996. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He was an active member of St. John's Orthodox Church in Hermitage, Pa. In his spare time, he liked to hunt and fish and camp with his nieces and nephews in Kittanning where he had many fond memories, but his real passion was taking care of his yard, which he did meticulously.
Chester is survived by two daughters Charlotte Meeks, of Hermitage, PA, and Shirley Everett, of Sharon, PA, three grandchildren, Christopher Stewart and Marcella and Leeanna Truman and three great-grandchildren, Tyler (Brooke) Stull, Roseanna Stull and Kyle Spaulding, three nephews, Larry (Carol) Everett, Frank and (Cindy) Everett and W. Kelly (Stacy) Everett, all of Templeton, PA, and nieces Lori Matthews, Susan (Rex) Duncan, Donna (Tim) Reimer all of Kittanning, PA, and Barbara Everett, of Templeton, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie Everett, two brothers, Paul and James Everett, three sisters, Blanche, Grace and Maxine and a nephew, Robert Everett.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon, PA, 16146. A Panachida service will be held at 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Johns Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Road, Hermitage, PA, 16148. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM in the church with Fr. David Mastroberte officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Orthodox Cemetery. The Wheatland American Legion and W. Middlesex VFW Area Honor Guard will perform full military honors.
