Chester "Chet" Decker Ward, age 75, of 70 Stoneridge Blvd. Hermitage, PA, passed away on Sunday evening,, Jan. 20, 2013 in Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH after an extended illness.
He was born in Sharon, PA on January 30, 1937, the son of the late Gordon and Thelma (Decker) Ward.
Chet was a 1955 graduate of Sharon High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard where he became an aviation electronicsman, attending the Radio School of the Coast Guard. He later attended the ATT Technical Institute in Niles, OH.
Chet was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of West Middlesex, where he had been very active, serving over the years as a session member, a trustee, a deacon, and helping with the Dinner Theatre of the church.
He had worked as a millright at the former Ivor J. Lee Inc. in Sharon,PA. Previous to retirement, he had worked at his father's business, Gordon Ward Inc.
Chet was a member of the Penn-Ohio Waterski Club and the Mercer County Trails Association. Chet enjoyed golfing,waterskiing, playing cards, especially pinochle, and spending time with his family and friends. He was well known for his molasses cookies.
He was the husband of Dorene (Reinhardt) Ward. whom he married on Sept. 10, 1955. She survives at home. Also surviving are his two daughters, Denise Mohney of Sharpsville,PA.and Tammy Rubano and her husband, Charles, of Farrell, PA and his son, Curtis Ward of Hermitage,PA along with nine grandchildren, Levi , Luke, and Rachel Forrest, Eve and Elias Mohney, Bridget DuVall and her husband Greg, Neil Ward and his wife Courtney, and Richard and Mario Rubano, and great-grandsons, Drew DuVall and Levi Forrest Jr... Also surviving are his two sisters, Betty Wymore and her husband,Kent, and Florence Biros and her husband, James, of New Wilmington, PA and his former daughter-in-law, Robin Ward, of Jamestown, PA.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 from 4-8:00p.m.. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at 1st Presbyterian Church , West Middlesex, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25th, with Rev. Jason Hickman officiating. with Miltary Honors at the church provided by the Wheatland American Legion, Post 432, & West Middlesex VFW Post 6233. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park Hermitage, PA.
