Carol Anne "Tommy" Zeliff

Miss Carol Anne "Tommy" Zeliff, 78, of 166 Latonka Drive, Mercer died on Monday, August 1st, 2011 in the emergency room of Grove City Medical Center at 7:32 a.m. after an extended illness. She was born in Youngsville, PA on December 28, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Wilda(Thrush) Zeliff. Carol Anne was a graduate of Youngsville High School and went on to earn a B.S. from Edinboro University. After graduating from Edinboro, she went on to earn an M.A. from Penn State University and then did post graduate work at Indiana University of Bloomington, IN. She had worked as an art teacher at the Hempfield Area School District in Greensburg, PA before retiring in 1985 where she had been a mentor to 175 student teachers during her career. She was known throughout the area for her woodworking crafts and Intaglio prints.She was a member of Eastside Church in Sharon. She is survived by her friend of over 60 years, Dr. Lillian Millsop of Mercer, PA along with two nieces, Rebecca Weston and her husband, Richard, of Dushore, PA and Dr. Betty Jo Chitestor of Erie, PA, three nephews, E. Wayne Chitestor and his wife Katie, of Linesville, PA John E. Zeliff III of Greensboro, NC and Robert Zeliff and his wife, Gayle, of Bradenton, FL. Several great nieces and great nephews and three great-great nieces also survive. Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her sister, Betty Jo Chitestor and her brother, John E. Zeliff II and a niece, Cindy Zeliff. Donations in her memory may be made to East Side Church, 201 Spruce Ave., Sharon, PA 16146. Friends are invited to call on Friday, August 5th, 2011 fromm 11:00 a.m. till Noon at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146. Funeral service will take place in the funeral home at noon with Rev. Ty Sabella officiating. Burial will be at Neilltown Cemetery in Neilltownm PA.
