Betty Lou Blair,. of Whispering Oaks, Hermitage, formerly of Nevada, passed away on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at 10:05 p.m., in Nugent CCRC, in Hermitage, after a brief illness. She was 88.
Betty was born in Sharon, PA on April 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Carl and Irene (Wise) Johnson.
Growing up, she attended Sharon Schools.
She had worked at Wheaton Cleaners. Previously, she had worked at the former Rexall Drug Store in Sharon. In her younger years, she had been a Girl Scouts and Brownie leader. She was a volunteer for Bill Rudge Ministries and had gone on many mission trips with them. She was of Presbyterian faith. Betty liked to golf and had golfed in the Sharpsville Women's Golf League.She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a care giver for many people throughout her life.. She was known for being a vivacious person and will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her .
She was the widow of Raymond C. Blair, whom she married on Jan. 30, 1948. He died on April 11, 2001.
Her family includes her two daughters, Linda Miller and her husband, Richard, of Henderson, NV and
Karen Rudge , and her husband, Bill, of Hermitage, PA, along with her grandchildren, Richard Miller, and his wife, Sunday, of San Diego , CA, Raymond Miller, and his wife, Isela ,of Folsom, CA, Tabitha Smith, and her husband Clayton, of Sharpsville, PA, and B.J. Rudge, and his wife, Tara, of Hermitage, PA and 16 great- grandchildren.
Family requests donations in her memory to Bill Rudge Ministries, 280 N. Buhl Farm Dr., Hermitage, PA 16148. Her family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Nugent's and to Three Rivers Hospice, along with the many people who showed kindness and compassion during Betty's declining health.
Friends are invited to call Thursday , Sept. 17, 2015 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 17th, with Dr. B.J. Rudge and Rev. Bill Rudge officiating. Interment at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Boulder City, NV.
