Bernard J.. Koches Sr., of Masury, OH, passed away at 12:30 a.m., on Monday, April 20, 2015, in O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center, Masuy, after a brief illness. He was 93.
He was born in Masury, OH, on May 30, 1921, the son of the late Andrew and Anna Koches. Bernard served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt in WW II.
He had worked as a welder at the former G.A.T.X. in Masury for over 30 years. Bernard was a member of the Wheatland American Legion Post # 432, and a lifetime member of the Hickory VFW Post 6166. Bernard was a licensed pilot and loved to play golf, bowl, and play euchre. He was of Catholic faith.
He was the widower of Sara M. (Burns) Koches. whom he married on Jan. 9, 1948. She died on Aug. 2, 2002. Surviving are his daughter, Brenda Robinson, of Sharon, PA, his son, George Koches, of Masury, OH., his six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with his sisters, Irene Zipay of Burghill, OH. and, Mary Bishop of Fairborn, OH. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith "Judy" Smith , his son, Bernard J. Koches Jr., and three sisters, Margaret Williams, Anna Cvelbar, and Helen Esmond along with his four brothers, Joseph, Andrew, John, and Cyril Koches.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service at at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25th, 2015, with Rev. Henry C. Andrae of Sacred Heart Church officiating. Cremation services provided by the funeral home.
