Mr. Benjamin F. Cornelious, 78, of 556 Spencer Avenue Sharon. died peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 7:49 p.m. in Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness.
Mr. Cornelious was born in Sharon, PA on January 5, 1933, the son of the late Ralph and Minnie (Uber) Cornelious. He was a 1951 graduate of Brookfield (OH) High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a Sargent during the Korean Conflict from 1953 -1955. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sharon PA.
He had worked as a sanitation department worker for the City of Sharon retiring in 1996. He had previously worked at the former National Castings and the former Westinghouse plant in Sharon.
Ben was an avid bowler, having belonged to several area leagues and also was a hunter and fisherman. He was a Little League and softball coach for many years and enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, playing cards with his family and friends. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports.
He was the husband of Alice (Bole) Cornelious, whom he married on August 11, 1956. She survives at home. Also surviving are his daughter, Deborah Watkins of Cooperstown, PA. his three sons
Gary Cornelious and his wife Debra of Sharpsville, PA., Bryan and Timothy Cornelious Sr. both of Sharon, PA. along with his grandchildren, Mark Simpson, Amy Brodie and her husband, Julius, Tyler Watkins, Timothy Cornelius Jr. , Troy Cornelious and Bryan Cornelious II. and great-grandchildren Angel and Timothy Cornelious III and a sister , Della Meckler of Masury, OH. Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Joseph Arbuckle. He was a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at Noon on Saturday, October 1st, with Captains Chris & Jenn Blessing of the Salvation Army of Franklin, PA officiating.
Interment at Brookfield twp. Cemetery Brookfield twp., Ohio with military honors provided by the Hickory VFW Post 6166 Honor Guard.
