Alfred T. Fragle, of 149 Baker Ave., Hermitage, PA passed away peacefully at 6:30 a.m. on Sat, August 24, 2013, in John XXIII Home in Hermitage, after an extended illness. He was 92.
Mr. Fragle was born in Sharon, PA on April 9, 1921, the son of the late Pasquale and Carrie (Gioia) Fragale. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Seaman Ist Class during WW II.
Al had worked as a production control supervisor at former Westinghouse plant in Sharon, PA, for 42 years having worked in the I and Z and Components Facility buildings.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree,Sharon Council # 684 & 4th Degree Council #960, the Christopher Columbus Benevolent Society, Past Officer of the Italian Home in Farrell, the former Farrell Wolves, the Farrell American Legion Post 160, and the Westinghouse Retirees Assoc. Al had been a Legislative Aid for the former State Representative, Michael Gruitza. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed gardening, walking in Buhl Farm Park, playing piano and organ, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage.
Surviving are his wife, Edith E. (DeNoble) Fragle, whom he married on Dec. 17, 1965. His first wife, the former Madge Rudich, died in 1965. He is also survived by two daughters, Faye Clark , and her husband, Gary, of Orlando, FL, Beth Boyd and her husband, Charles, of Marietta, GA, five grandchildren, Melissa Gates and her husband, Jesse, Shelle Roma and her husband, Paul, Christy Greene and her husband, Jeff, Cheryl Boyd, and Douglas Boyd and his wife, Darcy, along with eight great-grandchildren, Peyton, Grayson, Marian and Harrison Gates, Nicholas, Sophia, Luciano Roma, and Isabela Boyd. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Gatty and Mary Sansosti, and 8 brothers, Anthony, Robert, Victor, Guy, Joseph, Frank, Patsy, and James Fragle.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home., 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, PA. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28th, with Rev. Jeffrey Noble officiating.
Mausoleum Encryptment at St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage, PA, with Military Honors provided by the Farrell VFW Post 5286, Wheatland American Legion Post 422,and West Middlesex VFW Post 6233 Honor Guard.
