Albert E. "Gene" Christy, of Juniper Village, formerly of Forker Blvd. Sharon, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at 6:00 a.m.. at Juniper Village, after an extended illness. He was 84.
Gene was born in Adamsville, PA on May 1, 1930, the son of the late James N. and Clara E. (Griffin) Christy. He was a graduate of Jamestown-Pymatuning Joint High School. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Master Gunnery Sargent in the Korean Conflict, two tours of duty during the Vietnam War and also in Okinawa, Japan. He had made his career with the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1951-1983.
Gene was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, the Fleet Reserve Association, and the Marine Corp. Association. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, & hunting. He was of the Protestant faith.
He was the widower of Julia "Sheila" (Clements) Christy. whom he married on September 19, 1962. She died on January 7, 2013.
He is survived by a daughter, Sue Ann Thompson and her husband, Jimmy, of Lawton, OK., his son, Ronald K. Christy and his wife, Beth, of East Liverpool, OH. his grandchildren ,Kaileigh, Aaron, Nathan, and Dalton and his two great-grandchildren, Aaron, and Ian. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Virgie M. White, and his 5 half-brothers, Roy, Granville, Benjamin, Harvey, and Woodrow Griffin.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA. at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 with pastor Jesse Griffin, of Kingdom Reign Ministries, Campbell, OH , officiating. Military Honors at the funeral home presented by the Hickory VFW , Post 6166 Honor Guard. Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery Jamestown, PA.
