Albert W. "Al" Taub

Albert W. "Al" Taub, of Hermitage, PA, formerly of Nimick St., Sharon, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at 5:45 p.m. in Nugent Concalescent Home in Hermitage after a brief illness. He was 90.
He was born in Transfer, PA on April 24, 1922, the son of the late George and Katherine (Fritsh) Taub.
He had worked as railroad engineer at former Sharon Steel Sharon, PA, for 35 years. He had also worked at the former Carine Construction, Al's Tavern, and the Farrell Hotel. In younger years, he had belonged to the Farrell Moose Lodge, the former German Home in Farrell and the Carpo-Russ Club in Sharon. Al really enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Al was the widower of Mary A. (Astone) Taub. whom he married on Dec. 14, 1957. She died on Aug. 16, 2003.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry L. Merritt and her fiance', John Westover of Hubbard, OH., his son, Patrick Astone Sr. and his wife, Rose, of Hermitage, PA.,along with five grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. Also survivng are four sister- in- laws, Ida Marcus and her husband, Carl, Frances DiFeo and her husband, Gary, Rosalie DelPapa, and Gloria Hassel and her husband, Linn, all of Sharon, PA. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceeded in death by his two sisters, Hilda De Martini and Anna Stano, and his three brothers, John, Martin, and Louie Taub.

Funeral service at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon, PA on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at 10:00a.m. with Rev. Jeff Harter. of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sharon. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
