Albert A. "Ab" Shiderly, of Sharon, PA passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at 7:56 a.m., at John XXIII Home , in Hermitage , after a brief illness. He was 88.
Ab was born in Hermitage, PA on March 4, 1927, the son of the late Arthur LeRoy and Grace A. (Minner) Shiderly. He was a 1945 graduate of West Middlesex High School & from Westminster College in 1961 and then earned his Master's degree in education in 1963. Ab was a U.S. Navy veteran having served his country during WWII.
He was a lifetime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church Sharon, PA, where he had served as Clerk of Session for over 30 years. He also had served as a Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School teacher.
He worked as a math teacher at Hermitage Schools for 32 years. He also worked at the former Westinghouse in Sharon for 12 years.
He was a 50 year member of F.&A.M., Hermitage Lodge #250 (former Sharon Lodge #668), and a member of the New Castle Consistory, and a life member of N.E.A. and the P.S.E.A.. In his younger years, he was active with the local Boy Scouts. Being an avid camper, he was a 43 year member and State Manager of the Holiday Ramblers Recreational Vehicle Club, Chapter 194. He enjoyed doing yard work around his neighborhood.
Ab was the husband of Mary Anne (Petty) Shiderly. whom he married on June 1, 1957. She survives at home. Also surviving are his two daughters, Heather A. DeLong and her husband, Jay DeLong Jr., of Laramie, WY, and Heidi A. Shiderly, of Meadville, PA , along with his sister, Elva Grace Blake, of Hermitage, PA , and his brother, Clair Shiderly and his wife, Freda, of Wampum, PA . Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, C. Roy Garrett, a brother, Ralph Shiderly, and 3 step-brothers, A. Lyle, Paul, and Doris Garrett.

Friends are invited to call Sunday, April 12, 2015, from 2:00 till 5:00 p.m., at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146. A Masonic Burial Rites service will be presented by F. & A.M. Hermitage Lodge 250, at the funeral home at 4:45 p.m.
Funeral service at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 11:00.am. on Monday, April 13th, with Pastor Chris D. Wright of Faithon68 officiating. Military Honors will be provided at the church by the Farrell VFW, Wheatland American Legion , West Middlesex VFW Honor Guard.
